I was walking along the promenade along Brighton sea front late afternoon July 2008 looking for urban subjects to capture. Brighton curtinly has various photogenic opertunties in unbundance.
However while walking with camera over shoulder, I heard my camera going off, clicking away all on its own. I’d in fact been leaning with my elbow while the camera over should on the shutter button. With a fairly sizeable card loaded I wasn’t worried about these rough shots so I left them for the time being.
At Home upon import I noticed this almost perfectly framed, slightly blurry image of elongated shadows on ground. It reminded me of some kind of alien from the movies. The image could have easily have been deleted along with 10 or 20 other images, but this one was saved.
Slightly cropped, processed to monochrome it shows just how unexpected images could turn up. The accidental shot if you will.
